Comments:
The bottom silt of the pond was very black and anoxic. There was also an oil film on the surface of the water. The perimeter of the pond was walked and aquatic plant species were noted. From the edges of the pond no submerged plants could be seen.

A 3 minute sweep sample with a pond net was collected again around the perimeter of the pond. The sample was then analysed on the bankside and the invertebrates noted. We did not note abundances only presence.
The range of invertebrates was surprising considering the blackness of the silt. We spotted several dragonfly/damsel fly larvae in the sample
I didn’t see any fish or any signs of fish
